Stefon Diggs lands in Seattle to form a dangerous new receiving duo with All-Pro star Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Seattle, Washington — Just days after his unexpected release, veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs appears to be on his way to the Seattle Seahawks. League insiders say Seattle is moving aggressively to bring the former Pro Bowl playmaker to the Pacific Northwest, giving the team another proven weapon for the upcoming season.

Diggs became one of the most intriguing names on the free-agent market after being released by the New England Patriots on March 4. Despite entering his early 30s, the veteran receiver showed during the 2025 season that he still has plenty left to offer.

Last season, Diggs delivered a strong bounce-back campaign, recording 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, helping New England reach Super Bowl LX. The performance added to a remarkable stretch of consistency, as Diggs has now produced seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most reliable receivers of the past decade.

Seattle’s interest comes at a critical time for the organization’s wide receiver group. All-Pro standout Jaxon Smith-Njigba has firmly established himself as the centerpiece of the offense after a breakout 2025 season that included 119 receptions, making him one of the most dangerous targets in the league.

Behind Smith-Njigba, however, the depth chart carries several uncertainties. Veteran receiver Cooper Kupp continues to provide leadership and reliability for quarterback Sam Darnold, particularly in high-pressure moments. But at 32 years old and with a recent injury history, Kupp is no longer viewed as a long-term cornerstone.

Additional roster questions remain. Receiver Jake Bobo currently holds restricted free-agent status, while explosive playmaker Rashid Shaheed — a Pro Bowl return specialist and key WR2 — is entering unrestricted free agency. Losing Shaheed would remove one of Seattle’s most dangerous vertical threats.

Those factors explain why the Seahawks front office has been actively exploring upgrades to the receiver room. The team previously attempted to acquire DJ Moore before he was traded elsewhere, and scouts have also evaluated several draft prospects who could complement Smith-Njigba in the future.

Diggs, however, represents a different type of solution — one built on proven production and experience.

His elite route-running, separation ability, and reliability in contested-catch situations would immediately give Seattle another dependable target on the outside. Perhaps just as importantly, his presence could provide veteran leadership for a receiving corps transitioning into a new era.

For a franchise determined to remain among the NFL’s top contenders, adding a receiver of Diggs’ caliber could prove to be a major offensive boost.

If the move is finalized, Seattle may have just added one of the most accomplished route-runners of the past decade — a veteran capable of helping push the Seahawks’ offense to another level.
