GREAT MOVE: Seattle Seahawks Extend Super Bowl LX Champion EDGE Through 2030, Making Him the Highest-Paid EDGE in NFL History
Seattle, Washington – The Seattle Seahawks have officially secured the future of their defense by signing star edge rusher Boye Mafe to a long-term contract extension. Fresh off their Super Bowl LX championship run, Seattle agreed to a five-year, $135 million deal with approximately $90 million guaranteed, keeping Mafe with the franchise through the 2030 season.

The contract places Mafe among the highest-paid EDGE defenders in the NFL, with an average annual value of roughly $27 million per season. Seahawks leadership believes the 26-year-old pass rusher represents a cornerstone of the defense as the team looks to sustain its championship window.
The 2025 season marked a true breakout for Mafe. He finished the year with 14.5 sacks, 63 quarterback pressures, 18 tackles for loss, and 4 forced fumbles, emerging as one of the league’s most disruptive edge defenders. His relentless motor and ability to collapse the pocket consistently created problems for opposing offensive lines across the NFL.
During Seattle’s playoff run to the Super Bowl LX title, Mafe continued to play a critical role. He recorded 3.5 sacks and seven pressures in three postseason games, including a pivotal sack during the NFC Championship Game. That performance further reinforced the organization’s belief that he is a foundational piece of the Seahawks’ defensive identity.
Head coach Mike Macdonald has repeatedly emphasized that Seattle’s success begins with defensive pressure. With Mafe leading the charge on the edge, the Seahawks built one of the league’s most dangerous front sevens, finishing among the NFL’s top five teams in both sacks and total pressures during the championship season.
After the deal was finalized, Mafe shared his gratitude for the organization and the city that drafted him.
“Seattle believed in me from the very beginning and gave me the opportunity to become the best version of myself. Being able to stay here and continue fighting alongside this locker room means everything to me. We’ve already won one championship, but I truly believe the journey for the Seahawks is just getting started.”
The extension sends a clear message across the NFL that Seattle has no intention of slowing down after its Super Bowl triumph. By locking in one of the league’s premier young pass rushers for the remainder of the decade, the Seahawks have taken another major step toward maintaining a roster capable of competing for championships year after year.
