Former Third-Round EDGE with 330 Tackles Agrees to Sign With Jets After Three Failed Negotiation Attempts With Packers GM Brian Gutekunst.
New York, NY – Kingsley Enagbare, the former EDGE rusher for the Green Bay Packers, has agreed to a contract with the New York Jets after three unsuccessful negotiation attempts with Packers GM Brian Gutekunst. Enagbare, selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has been a key part of the Packers’ defensive line and will now continue his journey with a new team.

Over his three seasons with the Packers, Enagbare recorded 330 tackles, establishing himself as one of the premier edge rushers in the league. However, after the 2025 season, contract negotiations between Enagbare and Gutekunst failed to produce an agreement, despite Enagbare’s willingness to reduce his salary and adjust his position to stay. When no common ground could be reached, Enagbare decided to explore new opportunities with the Jets.

In 2024, Enagbare had a breakout season, recording 120 tackles, ranking in the top 15 in the NFL for tackles, and solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s top pass rushers. He also contributed with 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, helping the Packers secure key victories. The following season, Enagbare maintained his high level of play with 110 tackles, ranking in the top 20 in the league.
"My heart will always belong to the Packers, but after three failed negotiations, I realized I no longer had a place there. Leaving might be the right decision. The Jets came in, and they know who I am. I’ll prove they’re not wrong in trusting me. This will be a huge turning point for me and the new team."
With a three-year, $15 million contract with the Jets, Enagbare will have the chance to showcase his talents in a new defensive system. This move is expected to bring energy to both Enagbare and the team, allowing him to continue his development and make an impact during the 2026 season.

Enagbare’s impressive stats and consistency over the years not only secured his place in Green Bay’s defense but also garnered attention from other teams. Now with the Jets, he’s ready to prove that his best years are ahead of him. The Jets, looking to strengthen their defensive line, hope Enagbare will bring the spark they need to compete in the AFC.
