Fan-Favorite OT Retires at Age 30 After Failed Attempt to Return to Green Bay Despite Willingness to Take Pay Cut – Declares He Will Always Be a Packer
Green Bay, WI – 03/12/2026 – Yosh Nijman, one of the most beloved offensive tackles (OT) in Green Bay Packers history, has officially announced his retirement from the NFL at the age of 30 after an impressive career. Although an undrafted player, Nijman has had an inspiring journey and earned the love of Packers fans.
Before announcing his retirement, Nijman expressed his desire to return and play one more season with the Packers – the team that gave him the opportunity to develop and become the player he is today. He was even willing to take a pay cut to continue playing for his former team, but those efforts were unsuccessful as the Packers had already filled the position.
“Joining Green Bay was a miracle in my life. This team gave me the opportunity to grow and build my career. I’m truly regretful that I won’t be able to wear the Packers jersey one more time. My heart will always be grateful, and I’ll never forget the incredible journey I had here.” – Yosh Nijman emotionally shared on the day of his retirement.

Although he later joined the Carolina Panthers, Nijman’s connection to his former team remains strong. The Packers were the organization that gave him the chance when he was undrafted, helping him build a successful career in the NFL.
Nijman joined the Packers in 2020, and although he didn’t start right away, he proved his worth over the seasons. He played 16 games in his rookie year but didn’t start any. However, in the following seasons, Nijman became a key player, starting in 17 games during the 2021 season, and 13 games in 2022.
In 2023, Nijman continued to be an important part of the Packers' offensive line before joining the Panthers, where he played in 32 games, including 7 starts.
Even though he moved to the Panthers, Nijman has always considered the Packers to be the most special team of his career. He holds deep respect and gratitude for Green Bay, the organization that gave him his start and allowed him to achieve success.
On the day of his retirement, Nijman also thanked the Packers fans and affirmed that, even though he will no longer play for the team, he will always be a part of the team’s history and legacy.
