Eagles Sign Former Saints Franchise QB “Swiss Army Knife” to Back Up Jalen Hurts
Philadelphia, PA. The Philadelphia Eagles have made one of the most surprising offensive moves of the offseason, adding a veteran playmaker capable of lining up at multiple positions to support franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The former New Orleans Saints franchise quarterback built a reputation across the league as one of the most unique players in football.
Known as the “Swiss Army Knife,” he has taken snaps at quarterback, tight end, running back, wide receiver and even played key roles on special teams.
According to league sources, Taysom Hill has agreed to a two-year contract worth $12 million with $8.5 million guaranteed, joining Philadelphia primarily as a backup option behind Hurts while also serving as a versatile offensive weapon in specialty packages.
Hill entered the NFL in 2017 and quickly became one of the most creative pieces in the Saints’ offense. His physical running style, short-yardage power and ability to line up across the formation allowed coaches to build entire packages around his skill set.
Over the course of his career, Hill has accomplished something few players in league history can claim. He surpassed 1,000 yards passing, 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving, a testament to his rare versatility.
Philadelphia’s front office reportedly views the veteran as a valuable insurance policy behind Hurts, while also giving head coach Nick Sirianni a dynamic gadget weapon for red-zone and goal-line situations.
If used creatively, Hill could become one of the most fascinating chess pieces in the Eagles’ offense as the team looks to keep its championship window wide open heading into the 2026 season.
