Denver Broncos Restructure Quinn Meinerz’s $72 Million Contract to Create Cap Space for a Major Superstar Signing
Denver, Colorado – The Denver Broncos are making a significant financial move ahead of the 2026 offseason by restructuring the $72 million contract of star guard Quinn Meinerz. The adjustment is designed to create additional salary-cap flexibility, potentially positioning Denver to pursue a major star in the upcoming free-agent market.

Meinerz, who was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, has developed into one of the league’s premier right guards. Over the past three seasons under head coach Sean Payton, he has become a cornerstone of the Broncos’ offensive line, playing a critical role in both pass protection and the team’s rushing attack.
According to reports from Denver media outlets, the Broncos restructured Meinerz’s contract by converting a large portion of his 2026 base salary into a signing bonus. The move is expected to free up roughly $10 to $11.7 million in salary-cap space, a significant amount as the NFL free-agency period approaches.

Under the revised structure, Meinerz is projected to earn $1.2 million in base salary for the 2026 season, along with a $15.6 million signing bonus following the restructuring. His base salary in both the 2027 and 2028 seasons will sit around $18.5 million per year, with additional incentives tied to performance achievements such as future All-Pro selections.
For the Broncos, this type of contract restructuring is a familiar cap-management strategy. It allows the team to create immediate financial flexibility while maintaining the long-term value of the deal and keeping one of their most important offensive linemen in place.
On the field, Meinerz has continued to prove why he is widely considered one of the top guards in the NFL. He has started all 17 games in three consecutive seasons and is among a small group of players who have appeared in all 51 regular-season games since the start of the 2023 season. According to Pro Football Focus, Meinerz ranks among the league’s best interior linemen, particularly as an elite run blocker while maintaining solid pass-protection performance.
At just 27 years old and set to turn 28 later this year, Meinerz is still firmly in his prime. With Denver now gaining additional salary-cap breathing room, many around the league believe the Broncos could be preparing to pursue a major acquisition in free agency, using this financial flexibility to strengthen their roster for the seasons ahead.
