Colts Officially Sign Star OT with 5,700 careers snaps from the Packers After Failing to Reach Agreement with Braden Smith
In a significant move to bolster their offensive line, the Indianapolis Colts have officially signed offensive tackle Rasheed Walker, formerly of the Green Bay Packers, to a three-year, $65 million deal. Walker, who brings 5,700 career snaps, fills the void left by Braden Smith's departure to the Houston Texans.
“I know stepping into Braden’s shoes isn’t easy, but I’m here to make sure this line stays solid,” Walker said. “I have a lot of respect for what Smith did here, but now it’s my time to contribute and protect our quarterback. I’m ready to make an impact.”
Walker, a key fixture on the Packers’ offensive line for the past seven seasons, was signed to add stability to the Colts’ line, which now needs a new right tackle. Throughout his career in Green Bay, Walker earned 5 Pro Bowl selections and 3 All-Pro honors. He played in 82 games, providing solid protection for quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and helping to solidify the Packers’ offensive line. His veteran presence will be especially important for the Colts’ offensive unit, which is in the process of rebuilding after the loss of Braden Smith.
