BREAKING: Eagles Star TE Informs Philadelphia He Will Not Return Next Season
Philadelphia Eagles appear set to lose one of the most reliable and productive tight ends in their recent history as the offseason approaches.
According to sources around the league, the veteran tight end has informed people close to the organization that he does not expect to return to Philadelphia once the new league year begins.
The situation stems largely from stalled contract negotiations. With the Eagles currently dealing with salary-cap pressure—projected tight despite the $301.2 million cap—and multiple roster priorities heading into free agency, talks between the team and the veteran tight end failed to produce a new agreement.
That player is Dallas Goedert, whose one-year deal with Philadelphia will officially expire when the NFL’s new league year begins on March 11.

Despite the short stint on his most recent contract, Goedert made a noticeable impact during his time in Philadelphia, serving as a key red-zone threat and reliable target for Jalen Hurts.
In 15 games with the Eagles, he produced strong numbers in a complementary role. The veteran recorded 60 receptions on targets for 591 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns, marking a franchise record for TDs in a season by a tight end and highlighting his effectiveness as a pass-catcher and blocker when healthy.
Even with that production, Philadelphia’s salary-cap situation has complicated any attempt to retain him long-term. The team is navigating constraints that would create a significant dead cap hit if he departs, but matching what Goedert could command on the open market—potentially a multi-year deal with stability for his growing family—has proven difficult amid other priorities like edge rusher extensions and defensive core retention.
The veteran tight end has already drawn interest from multiple teams as free agency approaches.
During recent discussions and reports, Goedert has been linked to squads seeking a proven, veteran tight end to bolster their passing attack. Teams such as the Cleveland Browns (seeking a replacement for departing talent), Kansas City Chiefs, and others are believed to be monitoring his situation and could pursue the eight-year veteran once the legal tampering period begins.
For the Eagles, his expected departure represents another significant roster decision in an offseason already shaped by salary-cap challenges, defensive retooling, and building around the core offense.
Unless something changes dramatically before free agency opens, it now appears that Dallas Goedert’s time in Philadelphia is coming to an end.
