Amid Rumors of a Return to Denver, Edge Rusher Bradley Chubb Surprises with $52.5 Million Deal with AFC Contender, Leaving Broncos Fans Disappointed
Buffalo, New York
Bradley Chubb, one of the NFL's most promising pass rushers, shocked the NFL community by signing a $52.5 million contract with an AFC contender. This decision left many Denver Broncos fans feeling disappointed, as rumors had been circulating that Chubb might return to his former team.

Chubb was expected to be a star when the Denver Broncos selected him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. His rookie season was a success, recording 12 sacks, but his career in Denver didn’t pan out as hoped. Chubb struggled with injuries, and midway through the 2022 season, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins.
In Miami, Chubb signed a five-year, $110 million contract extension in 2022. While he put up impressive numbers in his two full seasons with the Dolphins in 2023 and 2025, totaling 20 sacks and 8 forced fumbles, the Dolphins decided to part ways with him, and Chubb became a free agent.
After hitting the open market, Chubb quickly attracted interest from several teams. Ultimately, he signed a 3-year, $52.5 million contract with the Buffalo Bills, with $29 million of it guaranteed, signaling the team's strong belief in his ability to impact their defense.

Chubb shared his thoughts on the decision: "I will always cherish my time in Denver and the love from the fans there. However, after careful consideration, I realize this is the right move for my future and my career."
This move left many Broncos fans feeling disappointed. Chubb had been a key figure in their defense during his time in Denver, and losing him left a noticeable gap in their defensive strategy.
With a strong roster already in place, Buffalo Bills have added a key piece to their defense. Chubb’s presence should strengthen their pass rush, especially in key matchups against other AFC contenders.
By joining the Bills, Chubb now has the opportunity to play for a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, something he missed out on during his years in Denver and Miami.
While Denver Broncos will continue to build their roster and search for replacements, for Chubb, joining the Buffalo Bills is a crucial step in his career, opening up new opportunities to compete for the biggest titles.
